Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the short title. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 55 ILCS 5/1-1001 Adds reference to: 55 ILCS 5/2-4006.5 new Deletes everything. Amends the Counties Code. Allows certain counties to increase the size of the board of county commissioners from 3 commissioners elected at large to 5 commissioners elected from single member districts. Requires a referendum before the number of and election of commissioners can be changed. Provides that terms shall be staggered for 4 years and 2 years rather than 6 years. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Further amends the Counties Code. Allows certain counties to decide, by referendum, to elect either 3 commissioners or 5 commissioners from single member districts (instead of increasing the size of the board to 5 commissioners elected from single member districts). Allows the board of county commissioners to divide the county into districts (now, the General Assembly must divide the county into districts). Makes other changes.
