Senate Sponsors: DILLARD-JONES,E Short description: SEXUALLY VIOLENT-COUNSEL Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. Provides that if an indigent person is subject to a petition to be declared a sexually violent person or the subject of a petition for discharge, the court shall appoint counsel from the Legal Advocacy Service of the Guardianship and Advocacy Commission. Provides that the State shall be responsible for the costs of court-appointed counsel for indigent persons under the Act.
