House Sponsors: POE. Short description: VEH CD-ABANDONED VEHICLES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person who abandons a vehicle or aids and abets in the abandonment of a vehicle is not eligible to obtain registration for another vehicle until the fine and costs have been paid. Provides that, if the person already has transferred his or her registration to another vehicle or has newly obtained registration for another vehicle without having paid the fine or costs, the Secretary of State shall revoke the registration and shall notify the person that his or her registration for that vehicle is void. Provides that the person may not obtain a new vehicle registration until the fine and costs have been paid.
