Short description: 
CRIM CD-GANGS-PARENT RESPNSBLE                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.   Provides  that  a  parent  or      
   legal  guardian  of  a  minor  under  17 years of age who knows or who      
   reasonably should know that (i) the minor  is a member of a gang and        
   (ii) the minor commits an act in furtherance of gang activity is            
   guilty of a business offense and may be fined an amount not exceeding       
   $10,000, or sentenced to serve a period of 6 months conditional             
   discharge, or required to attend a parental workshop esablished by          
   the probation or court services department of the county.                   
          CORRECTIONAL NOTE (Department of Corrections)                        
          There will be no fiscal or prison population impact.                 
          JUDICIAL NOTE (Administrative Office of Ill. Courts)                 
          There may be a minimal increase in judicial workloads; it is         
          unlikely the number of judges needed would increase.
