Short description: 
CD CORR-PRISONER RESTRICTIONS                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the  Unified  Code  of  Corrections.   Provides  that  the      
   Department  must  restrict  the personal property of each prisoner to:      
   (1) a Department approved storage box consisting  of  one  footlocker;      
   (2)  all  legal materials; (3) any approved reading materials that can      
   fit into the approved storage box; (4) hygiene products,  (5)  a  fan;      
   (6)  an electric razor; (7) a religious medallion not to exceed $50 in      
   value and one inch in height; (8) a watch not to exceed $100 in value;      
   (9) a wedding ring not to exceed $100 in value; (10) headphones;  (11)      
   typewriter;  (12)  calculator;  (13) a television if authorized by the      
   Department; (14) a radio if authorized by the Department; and  (15)  a      
   cassette   player   if  authorized  by  the  Department.   Establishes      
   restrictions for the first 6 months  of  incarceration  on  prisoners'      
   telephone  calls,  television  viewing,  and  access to prison guards.      
   Limits contact visits during that period.  Limits the prisoner  during      
   the  first  6  months  of  incarceration to one hour of recreation and      
   hygiene outside his or her cell per day.
