Short description: 
VEH CD-REGISTRATION-INSURANCE                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends  the  Illinois  Vehicle   Code.    Provides   that   every      
   application  for  registration or renewal of registration of a vehicle      
   must be accompanied by evidence of insurance coverage for the  vehicle      
   as  required  under  the "Mandatory Insurance" provisions of the Code.      
   Provides that if an application is not  accompanied  by  the  required      
   evidence  of  insurance coverage, the Secretary of State shall send to      
   the applicant by regular first-class mail a written notice  to  submit      
   the  required evidence of insurance coverage within 45 days.  Provides      
   for denial or revocation of  registration  if  evidence  of  insurance      
   coverage is not submitted.                                                  
          FISCAL IMPACT (Secretary of State)                                   
          The fiscal impact would be at least $5.8 million the first           
          year, and a projected $4 million each year thereafter.
