House Sponsors: DAVIS,STEVE. Short description: ELEC CD-VACANCY-NO NOMINTNS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Election Code. Provides that if vacancies in elective county offices or the office of State Senator occur after the time for filing nomination papers and no other candidates from any political party have been nominated for those offices, each political party shall nominate a candidate by resolution. Provides that if the vacancy occurs after the last day for filing nomination papers and at least one candidate from at least one political party has been nominated, no other nominations may be made. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 10 ILCS 5/7-11.1 10 ILCS 5/8-17.1 Adds reference to: 10 ILCS 5/8-17 Deletes everything. Amends the Election Code. Provides that the legislative or representative committee of a political party may not fill a vacancy in nomination unless no candidate from any party has been nominated.
