Senate Sponsors: SYVERSON-NOLAND-SULLIVAN-RADOGNO-BERMAN Short description: COMPUTERS FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code and the Unified Code of Corrections. Requires the State Board of Education to create a program to refurbish and upgrade donated computers as high quality computers for use by children in schools, park district programs, and community centers. Requires the Department of Corrections to establish a correctional industry whereby donated computers are refurbished by prisoners pursuant to the program. Effective immediately.
