OSMOND-HULTGREN-MATHIAS.

(SYVERSON)

   815 ILCS 513/25                                                             

        Amends  the  Home  Repair  and  Remodeling  Act.  Provides   that      
   professional home repair persons must obtain $10,000 per occurrence in      
   insurance for work that does not comply with applicable building codes      
   or,  in  the  alternative,  must  maintain  a  surety bond of at least      
   $50,000, unless the repair person has a net  worth  of  $1,000,000  or      
   more. Effective immediately.                                                
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Deletes everything. Amends the Home Repair  and  Remodeling  Act.      
   Provides that on and after January 1, 2001, a person engaged in the         
   business of home repair and remodeling and having a net worth of less       
   than $1,00,000 must obtain and maintain public liability and property       
   damage insurance in the amount of $10,000 per occurrence for improper       
   home repair or remodeling. Effective immediately.

        Makes a technical change.
