   KOSEL, RIGHTER, JONES,JOHN, BOST, SCHMITZ, SOMMER AND NOVAK.

(SULLIVAN-HAWKINSON-WALSH,L-PARKER)

   720 ILCS 5/24-1.2         from Ch. 38, par. 24-1.2                          

        Amends the Criminal Code of  1961  relating  to  the  offense  of      
   aggravated  discharge  of a firearm.   Provides that a person also may      
   commit the offense if the person knowingly or intentionally discharges      
   a firearm at or into a building from a position outside that  building      
   or  in the direction of a vehicle the person reasonably should know to      
   be occupied.  If the violation is committed in a school, on  the  real      
   property  comprising  a school, within 1,000 feet of the real property      
   comprising a school, at a school related activity,  or  on  or  within      
   1,000 feet of a conveyance owned, leased, or contracted by a school or      
   school  district  to  transport students to or from school or a school      
   related activity, it is a Class X felony.                                   
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          720 ILCS 5/24-3                 from Ch. 38, par. 24-3               
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961 concerning the unlawful sale  of      
   firearms.   Provides for increased penalties for various unlawful sale      
   of firearms violations involving persons under 21  years  of  age  and      
   under  18  years  of  age.   Also provides for increased penalties for      
   various  firearm  offenses  committed  in  a  school,  on   a   school      
   conveyance,  or within 1,000 feet of a school or school conveyance, or      
   at a school related activity.
