(PETERSON) 750 ILCS 5/506 from Ch. 40, par. 506 750 ILCS 45/18 from Ch. 40, par. 2518 Amends the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act and the Illinois Parentage Act of 1984. Replaces existing provisions regarding the appointment of an attorney to represent a child with a provision authorizing the court to appoint, in a case involving support, custody, visitation, education, parentage, property interest, or general welfare of a child, either (i) an attorney to represent the child, (ii) a guardian ad litem for the child, or (iii) a child's representative who will have the same power and authority to take part in the conduct of the litigation as does an attorney for a party and who will possess all the powers of investigation and recommendation as does a guardian ad litem. Provides for the appointment of more than one attorney for a child and for the payment of fees and costs for the appointed person. FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Children and Family Services) There is no measurable fiscal impact. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
