 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Regina Bibbs of Chicago on January  7,  2000;
 4    and

 5        WHEREAS,  Regina  Bibbs  was  born in Chicago on July 16,
 6    1935, the  daughter  of  Eddie  Mae  and  Wilbur  Hynes;  she
 7    graduated from Douglas Elementary School and Morgan Park High
 8    School; and

 9        WHEREAS,  She  married  Earl  Thomas  Bibbs in 1953; this
10    union was blessed with two children,  Earl  Thomas,  Jr.  and
11    Derek Arnold; and

12        WHEREAS,  She  began work in 1961 with the Chicago Police
13    Department  in  the  Communication   Center   as   a   Senior
14    Stenographer; from 1972 to 1992, she worked in the Bureaus of
15    Technical  and  Administrative  Services; she was promoted in
16    1972  to  Remote  Terminal  Operator  in  the  Field  Inquiry
17    Section; and

18        WHEREAS, In  1973,  Mrs.  Bibbs  was  promoted  to  Shift
19    Supervisor  Terminal  Operations, supervising remote terminal
20    operators in Field Inquiry,  Gun  Registration,  and  Records
21    Processing;   in   1990,   she  was  promoted  to  Clerk  IV,
22    supervising the third watch clerical  operations  in  Records
23    Processing;  in 1992, she was transferred to Organized Crime,
24    supervising the  2nd  watch  clerical  operations  until  her
25    retirement in 1997; and

26        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Bibbs  received a Department Commendation
27    for her dedicated work and retired with thirty-six  years  of
28    service  with  the  Chicago Police Department, twenty-four of
29    those years as a supervisor; and

30        WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt  by  her  family
31    and  friends,  especially  her sons, Earl, Jr. and Derek; her

 1    mother, Eddie Mae  Falls;  her  daughter-in-law,  Tanya;  her
 2    sister,  Juanita  Hynes;  her brother, Wilbur Hynes, Jr.; her
 3    grandchildren, Patrick, Anthony, Christopher, and Conlan; her
 4    five  great-grandchildren;  and  her  nephew,  Warren  Landon
 5    Hardin; therefore, be it

 6        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
 7    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
 8    and regret the death of Regina Bibbs and extend  our  sincere
 9    condolences to her family and friends; and be it further

10        RESOLVED,  That  suitable  copies  of  this resolution be
11    presented to the family of Regina Bibbs.
