 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, In 1982, the Department of Aging established  13
 3    planning  and  service  areas that develop a service delivery
 4    system for social and  nutrition  services  needed  by  older
 5    Illinoisans; and

 6        WHEREAS,  The  service  areas have not been revised since
 7    they were created; and

 8        WHEREAS, Illinois has experienced a  continuous  shifting
 9    of  population  through  the  years  resulting in demographic
10    changes within the service areas; and

11        WHEREAS, The population distribution of older Illinoisans
12    may be causing some service  areas  to  represent  more  than
13    their  share  of  the  population while other service centers
14    represent a smaller percentage of the  population;  therefore
15    be it

16        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
17    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF  ILLINOIS,  That  there  is  created
18    within  the  Department  of  Aging  a task force to study the
19    feasibility of re-mapping planning and service areas; and  be
20    it further

21        RESOLVED, That the task force shall consist of one member
22    from  each  planning  and  service  area,  appointed  by  the
23    Director of the Department on Aging; and be it further

24        RESOLVED,  That  the  Director of the Department of Aging
25    shall appoint not more than 17  other  members  to  the  task
26    force  who  shall  be  persons  interested  in  the planning,
27    development,  delivery  and  administration  of  services  to
28    senior citizens; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That the task  force  shall  include  in  their
30    study  population  totals, a summary of the required services

 1    and the population needs of each planning and  service  area;
 2    and be it further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  task  force  members shall serve without
 4    compensation but shall  be  reimbursed  for  their  necessary
 5    expenses actually incurred in performing their duties; and be
 6    it further

 7        RESOLVED,  That  the task force shall report its findings
 8    and recommendations to the General  Assembly  no  later  than
 9    January 1, 2001; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution shall be sent to
11    the Director of the Department on Aging.
