 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Mrs. Carrie  Jane  Alexander  of  Southfield,
 4    Michigan, on March 20, 1999; and

 5        WHEREAS,  She  was  born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July
 6    10, 1902; after her marriage to Benjamin F.  Alexander,  Sr.,
 7    they moved to Evanston, Illinois; and

 8        WHEREAS,  She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her husband,
 9    Benjamin Alexander, Sr., and  her  son,  Benjamin  Alexander,
10    Jr.; and

11        WHEREAS,   Mrs.   Alexander   was  a  loving  and  caring
12    individual; she was known by all as Grandma Carrie; and

13        WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt  by  her  family
14    and  friends,  especially  her  daughter,  Helen Russell; her
15    sister, Anna Mae Holman; her grandsons, Richard, Steven,  and
16    Martin    Russell,    and   Benjamin   Alexander   III;   her
17    granddaughters, Cynthia and Cheryl Alexander,  and  Christina
18    Jones;  9  great-grandchildren;  2 great-great-grandchildren;
19    and her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Alexander; therefore, be it

20        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
21    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
22    and regret the death of Mrs. Carrie Jane Alexander and extend
23    our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be  it
24    further

25        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
26    presented to her daughter, Helen Russell.
