1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Senior citizens are vital parts of the large
3 puzzle that makes up human society; and
4 WHEREAS, In many cultures, the senior members are revered
5 and treated with respect, while in others, they are ignored
6 and forgotten; and
7 WHEREAS, Many senior citizens are vital and energetic,
8 and continue to live on their own, declaring their
9 independence and freedom; and
10 WHEREAS, Many assisted care living facilities now include
11 independent living facilities as part of their community; and
12 WHEREAS, Many senior citizens live on their own, and set
13 examples for those around them; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
16 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we declare May 1
17 through May 7, 2000, as Senior Independent Living Week in the
18 State of Illinois, saluting those members of our society that
19 live on their own, and maintain their personal lives; and be
20 it further
21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the Director of the Illinois Department on
23 Aging.
