 1        AN ACT to amend  the  School  Code  by  changing  Section
 2    10-27.1A.

 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section 5.   The  School  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 6    Section 10-27.1A as follows:

 7        (105 ILCS 5/10-27.1A)
 8        Sec. 10-27.1A.  Reporting weapons and crimes of violence
 9    firearms  in  schools.   On  or  after  January 1, 1997, upon
10    receipt of any written, electronic, or verbal report from any
11    school personnel regarding a verified  incident  involving  a
12    weapon  or crime of violence firearm in a school or on school
13    owned or leased property,  including  any  conveyance  owned,
14    leased,  or  used by the school for the transport of students
15    or  school  personnel,  the  superintendent  or  his  or  her
16    designee shall  report  all  such  firearm-related  incidents
17    involving  weapons  and  crimes  of  violence  occurring in a
18    school or on school property to  the  local  law  enforcement
19    authorities  as soon as possible no later than 24 hours after
20    the occurrence of the incident and to the Department of State
21    Police in a form, manner, and frequency as prescribed by  the
22    Department of State Police.
23        The  State  Board  of  Education  shall receive an annual
24    statistical compilation  and  related  data  associated  with
25    incidents  involving  weapons and crimes of violence firearms
26    in schools from the Department of State Police.  As  used  in
27    this  Section,  the  term "crime of violence" "firearm" shall
28    have the meaning ascribed  to  it  in  Section  1-10  of  the
29    Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and Dependency Act 1.1 of the
30    Firearm Owners Identification Card Act.
