91_SB0072enr SB72 Enrolled LRB9101688PTpk 1 AN ACT concerning family farm support. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 5 Illinois Family Farmer Support Act. 6 Section 5. Family farmer. "Family farmer" means an 7 individual who is a resident of Illinois and owns or leases 8 land in Illinois that is used as a farm as that term is 9 defined in Section 1-60 of the Property Tax Code. 10 Section 10. Cooperative Development Board. The 11 Cooperative Extension Service of the College of Agriculture 12 of the University of Illinois shall create a Cooperative 13 Development Board. Subject to appropriation, the Board shall 14 establish, assist, and enhance the development of local and 15 regional agricultural institutions, such as, but not limited 16 to, cooperatives, other ownership structures, contractual 17 arrangements, and information systems to provide support to 18 Illinois family farmers. 19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 20 becoming law.
