6 To the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the
7 House of Representatives:
8 We, the conference committee appointed to consider the
9 differences between the houses in relation to House
10 Amendments Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 to Senate Bill 27, recommend
11 the following:
12 (1) that the Senate concur in House Amendments Nos. 1,
13 2, 3, and 5; and
14 (2) that House Bill 27, AS AMENDED, be further amended
15 as follows:
16 in Section 5, Sec. 106E-5, by replacing the sentence that
17 begins "The Illinois General Assembly takes notice" with the
18 following:
19 "The Illinois General Assembly takes notice that some public
20 defenders and assistant prosecutors in the Illinois criminal
21 justice systems are often reimbursed at salary levels below
22 reasonable rates for private practice."; and
23 in Sec. 106E-10, by replacing subdivisions (8) and (9) with
24 the following:
25 "(8) Three members appointed by the Illinois Appellate
26 Prosecutors Association.
27 (9) Three members appointed by the Office of the State
28 Appellate Defender."; and
29 in Sec. 106E-10, by deleting subdivisions (15) through (18);
30 and
31 in Sec. 106E-10 by renumbering subdivision (19) as
32 subdivision (15).
