1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of
3 the Illinois House of Representatives that the members of the
4 Marian Catholic High School Marching Band won their seventh
5 Bands of America Grand National Championship on November 11,
6 2000 in Indianapolis, Indiana; and
7 WHEREAS, The Spartans scored 95.95 points out of a
8 possible 100 points, taking first place in Class AAA
9 semi-final competition before moving to the Grand National
10 Championship; and
11 WHEREAS, The band was judged the best out of 88 bands
12 from across the United States in the competition and also won
13 first place for outstanding music performance and outstanding
14 general effect; and
15 WHEREAS, The Marian Catholic High School Marching Band is
16 led by Band Director Greg Bimm and Assistant Band Director
17 Marc Whitlock; the win was especially noteworthy because this
18 year is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Bands of America
19 organization; and
20 WHEREAS, The band began rehearsals in August and has
21 worked on the performance competition since that time;
22 therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate the members of the Marian Catholic High
26 School Marching Band on their record seventh Grand National
27 Championship win at the Bands of America competition in
28 Indianapolis; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
30 presented to Band Director Greg Bimm, Assistant Band Director
31 Marc Whitlock, and the members of the Marian Catholic High
