 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  Prairie  State  Chapter  of  the  National
 3    Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution,  located
 4    in  Centralia,  Illinois, will celebrate its 60th anniversary
 5    on October 3, 2000; and

 6        WHEREAS, The National Society was founded on October  11,
 7    1890;  the  Society  was  incorporated  by  act of the United
 8    States Congress in 1896 and President Grover Cleveland signed
 9    the charter; and

10        WHEREAS,  The  Prairie  State  Chapter  was  formed  with
11    twenty-six charter members; today forty-four  members  gather
12    together  to  maintain and keep the memory and the history of
13    the American Revolution and the fight for  our  independence;
14    and

15        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Pearl  Stockman  was  the  first  Chapter
16    Regent;  Mrs.  Betty  Prince  currently serves as the Chapter
17    Regent; Mrs. Helen Nolting has been a member of  the  Prairie
18    State Chapter since 1943, serving for fifty-seven years; Mrs.
19    Nolting  and  Mrs. Mildred Levine are both fifty year members
20    of the Chapter; and

21        WHEREAS, On October 26, 2000, the Chapter will  celebrate
22    its  anniversary  at  its  Chapter meeting; the Chapter flags
23    will  fly  on  October  3  to  remember  this  special   day;
24    therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
26    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
27    we  congratulate  the members of Prairie State Chapter of the
28    National Society of the Daughters of the American  Revolution
29    as  they  celebrate the Chapter's 60th anniversary; and be it
30    further

31        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be

 1    presented to Chapter Regent, Mrs. Betty Prince.
