 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  pleased  to declare special days in the
 4    State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, "Make  a  Difference  Day"  will  be  celebrated
 6    October  28,  2000  in the City of Wheaton, Illinois; "Make a
 7    Difference Day" marks the single largest day of  volunteering
 8    in the United States and will now mark that day in Wheaton as
 9    well; and

10        WHEREAS,  Volunteers will help senior citizens, children,
11    the homeless and needy, and any other areas that need special
12    attention; it will be a chance to clean up neighborhoods  and
13    schools,  and  to  show  how  much the people of Wheaton care
14    about others; and

15        WHEREAS, The year 2000 will mark the tenth anniversary of
16    "Make a Difference Day" across the United States; 2.8 million
17    dollars were raised last year for charities, and  22  million
18    people were affected by the efforts of those participating in
19    "Make a Difference Day"; therefore, be it

20        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
21    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
22    we declare October 28, 2000, to be "Make a Difference Day" in
23    the  City of Wheaton and across the State of Illinois; and be
24    it further

25        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
26    presented  to  Michelle J. Senatore and the City of Wheaton's
27    Community Relations Commission.
