1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mrs. Mae
3 Grapperhaus of Troy was recently named a recipient of the
4 Illinois Woman of Achievement Award for her outstanding
5 achievements in her community; and
6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Grapperhaus has spent the better part of
7 her life doing whatever she could to make her community a
8 better one in which to live; and
9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Grapperhaus serves as editor of the local
10 newspaper, the Times-Tribune, and represents the newspaper on
11 the Chamber of Commerce; she also served several terms on the
12 Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce; and
13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Grapperhaus wants to see Troy maintain its
14 heritage, and to help accomplish that she spent several terms
15 as board president of the Troy Historical Society and works
16 on the Board of Directors; as a member of the Troy Economic
17 Development Commission, Mrs. Grapperhaus was instrumental in
18 bringing a downtown renovation program, the Main Street
19 Program, to Troy; and
20 WHEREAS, Mae Grapperhaus has been married for thirty-nine
21 years and has six children, all residents of the Troy area;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, She is a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church,
24 the Knights of Columbus, and is president of the Troy
25 Historical Preservation Committee; and
26 WHEREAS, A woman such as Mae Grapperhaus deserves our
27 respect and admiration; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we congratulate Mrs. Mae Grapperhaus on receiving the

1 Illinois Woman of Achievement Award and applaud the work she
2 has done for her community; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to Mrs. Mae Grapperhaus.
