1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Belle-Scott Committee hosted the first G.I.
3 Pal Dinner on November 29, 1950 in honor of the enlisted men
4 and women of Scott Air Force Base; and
5 WHEREAS, The Belle-Scott Committee's mission is to
6 promote a good working and social relationship between the
7 Belleville Area Business Community and Scott Air Force Base
8 Personnel; and
9 WHEREAS, The Belle-Scott G.I. Pal/Enlisted Dinner
10 provides an opportunity for the sharing of good food,
11 entertainment, and camaraderie between the business community
12 and enlisted men and women, encouraging understanding and
13 building friendships between the two communities; and
14 WHEREAS, The Belleville Business Community has sponsored
15 this dinner and program featuring such stars as Debbie
16 Reynolds, Vincent Price, the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Marian
17 Anderson, Veronica Lake, and the Air Force Band
18 "Starlifters," entertaining thousands of enlisted men and
19 women stationed at Scott Air Force Base throughout the past
20 50 years; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we recognize the Belle-Scott Committee for its efforts to
24 improve community relations between the communities of
25 Belleville and Scott Air Force Base and congratulate the
26 members of the Belle-Scott Committee on the occasion of the
27 50th anniversary of the Belle-Scott G.I. Pal/Enlisted Dinner;
28 and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
30 presented to the Clerk of the city of Belleville, the Base
31 Commander of Scott Air Force Base, and the Secretary of the
