1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 the Board of Higher Education, the Illinois Community College
5 Board, and the State Board of Education shall conduct an
6 analysis of the educational needs of the East St. Louis
7 metropolitan area, with the aim of enhancing educational
8 opportunity and educational achievement in the region; and be
9 it further
10 RESOLVED, That the analysis shall include the full
11 spectrum of education, from pre-school through higher
12 education, and shall be undertaken in consultation with the
13 citizens of the East St. Louis area and the educational
14 entities now operating in the East St. Louis area; and be it
15 further
16 RESOLVED, That the Board of Higher Education, the
17 Illinois Community College Board, and the State Board of
18 Education shall make a preliminary report to the Governor and
19 the General Assembly during the fall 2000 Session of the
20 General Assembly and a second report during February 2001;
21 and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
23 delivered to the Chairperson of the Board of Higher
24 Education, the Chairperson of the Illinois Community College
25 Board, and the Chairperson of the State Board of Education.
