1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we urge the Director of Commerce and Community Affairs, in
5 conjunction with other State agencies, to develop, within
6 existing resources, a plan to maximize the State's
7 opportunities to participate in the federal empowerment zone
8 and enterprise communities initiative established under
9 Subchapter U (commencing with Section 1391) of Chapter 1 of
10 Subtitle A of Title 26 of the United States Code, and any
11 subsequently enacted federal law encompassing awards of
12 empowerment zones and enterprise communities; and be it
13 further
14 RESOLVED, That the plan also include the feasibility of
15 providing special consideration or bonus points, or both, for
16 applications for State grants or other State financial
17 assistance from communities that have adopted comprehensive
18 community development plans as defined by the federal
19 empowerment zone and enterprise communities program; and be
20 it further
21 RESOLVED, That the plan be submitted to the Governor and
22 the General Assembly as expeditiously as possible; and be it
23 further
24 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
25 the Director of Commerce and Community Affairs.
