1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with pleasure that we honor organizations
3 in the State of Illinois that have contributed so much to
4 their communities; and
5 WHEREAS, The South Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood
6 Organization is a not-for-profit organization registered with
7 the State of Illinois; its purpose if to improve the quality
8 of life for members of the community, spreading information
9 about the resources and opportunities available to residents
10 and businesses and providing assistance in using resources
11 effectively; and
12 WHEREAS, The South Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood
13 Organization is the parent organization of the 73rd and
14 Dobson Housing Corporation, which sponsors the Leigh-Johnson
15 Court Development, a mixed income housing development located
16 at 73rd Street between Dobson and Greenwood Avenues; and
17 WHEREAS, The idea for the Housing Corporation was
18 initiated under the leadership of Mr. Edison Hoard, the first
19 director of the Organization, under a grant from the Field
20 Foundation; and
21 WHEREAS, In June of 1999, the 40th anniversary of the
22 South Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood Organization was
23 celebrated; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate the South Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood
27 Organization on its 40th anniversary and thank the members
28 for all that has been accomplished; we extend our best wishes
29 for the future; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the President of the Organization.
