1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of people from the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Chief Judge Donald P. O'Connell recently
6 appointed Jesus Reyes to the position of Director of the
7 Social Services Department of the Circuit Court of Cook
8 County; and
9 WHEREAS, Jesus Reyes is a graduate of the School of
10 Social Service Administration of the University of Chicago;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, The Social Service Department of the Circuit
13 Court of Cook County handles approximately 24,000 court
14 referrals a year, consisting of felony, misdemeanor,
15 ordinance, and traffic violation offenders; the Department
16 has a staff of 260 individuals in 13 court locations; the
17 Department develops and implements an individualized
18 supervision plan for each offender, guiding and monitoring
19 the individual while he or she is under court supervision;
20 and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Reyes has served as Assistant Dean for
22 Enrollment and Placement at the School of Social Service
23 Administration of the University of Chicago; his experience
24 at this position aided in his authoring the book "A Guide to
25 Selecting and Applying to Master of Social Work Programs,"
26 the definitive book on social work, currently in its third
27 edition; and
28 WHEREAS, Jesus Reyes went on to work for the Department
29 of Psychiatry of the University of Illinois at Chicago where
30 he served as a member of the multidisciplinary Parenting
31 Assessment Team, a program that assesses parenting capability

1 of chronically mentally ill patients; and
2 WHEREAS, Jesus Reyes most recent position was as Director
3 of the Circuit Court's Children's Advocacy Rooms, where he
4 was a principal participant in the development of a
5 court-based clinic to assess children and families for the
6 effects of domestic violence trauma; and
7 WHEREAS, Jesus Reyes will be an invaluable addition to
8 the Circuit Court Social Services Department; therefore, be
9 it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 we congratulate Jesus Reyes on his appointment as Director of
13 the Social Service Department of the Circuit Court of Cook
14 County; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Jesus Reyes, along with our sincere regards.
