 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to  learn
 3    of  the death of J. Leo Davis of Carlyle on Friday, April 16,
 4    1999; and

 5        WHEREAS, He was born in Trenton on July 6, 1916, the  son
 6    of  Joseph  and Bertha Huelskamp Davis; he married the former
 7    Mary Nothaus on November 22, 1947; and

 8        WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, having  served
 9    with the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theater; and

10        WHEREAS,  Mr. Davis retired in 1980 as a plant supervisor
11    with Illinois Bell after more than 38 years  of  service;  he
12    was Mayor of Carlyle for 16 years; and

13        WHEREAS,  He was past president of the Illinois Municipal
14    League; he was a member of  St,  Mary's  Catholic  Church  in
15    Carlyle,  the  Carlyle  Rotary  Club, a Paul Harris Fellow of
16    Rotary, the American Legion Post 404, the Veterans of Foreign
17    Wars Post 3523, the Carlyle  Sportsmen's  Club,  the  Carlyle
18    Fire Department, and the Carlyle Lake Golf Club; and

19        WHEREAS,  His  passing  will be deeply felt by his family
20    and  friends,  especially  his  wife,  Mary;  his  sons   and
21    daughters-in-law, Ken and Cindy Davis and Dean and Pam Davis;
22    his  daughters  and  sons-in-law, Phyllis and Tom Barnard and
23    Debbie and Navid Navidi; and his grandchildren, Eric, Monica,
24    Jocelyn,  Michelle,  Justin,  Barbara,  Charles,  Jason,  and
25    Dillon; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28    we note with sorrow and regret the death of J. Leo Davis  and
29    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
30    be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to his widow, Mary Davis.
