 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members  of  this  Body  are  pleased   to
 3    recognize Illinois citizens who have distinguished themselves
 4    in service to their community and the State; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Lowell  Goleman has announced his retirement as
 6    Mayor of Shelbyville after nine years of  dedicated  service;
 7    he  was  appointed  in 1990 to fill out the remainder of that
 8    term and was then elected for two terms; and

 9        WHEREAS, He was educated at the  University  of  Illinois
10    and  Eastern University; he received his master's degree from
11    Bradley University; and

12        WHEREAS, He served on the School  Board  and  the  Shelby
13    County  Community  Services  Board; he raised funds for a new
14    track at the Shelbyville High School and was instrumental  in
15    the Sister City Program; and

16        WHEREAS,  He  was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign
17    Wars, the American Legion, and the United  Methodist  Church;
18    and

19        WHEREAS,  He has been supported throughout his public and
20    private life by his wife, Wilma; his children,  Loma,  Marla,
21    Suzanne,  and  Sarah;  and  his  grandchildren,  Curt, Craig,
22    Rachel, Adam, Kate, Morgan, and Jeff; and

23        WHEREAS, He has been an active and energetic leader,  and
24    his  outstanding contributions have earned him the respect of
25    all who have had the privilege of knowing him; therefore,  be
26    it

27        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
28    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
29    we join with the citizens of Shelbyville in paying tribute to
30    Mayor   Lowell  Goleman  for  his  years  as  Mayor  and  his

 1    commitment to public service; and be it further

 2        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 3    presented to him as an expression of our esteem.
