1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Third World Conference Foundation focuses
3 its attention on the economic, educational, social, and
4 developmental issues of the Third World; and
5 WHEREAS, The Third World Conference Foundation is a
6 pre-eminent, non-profit, independent research and educational
7 organization; and
8 WHEREAS, The Third World Conference Foundation was
9 founded in Chicago in 1975 by Dr. Roger K. Oden, dean of the
10 College of Arts and Sciences at Governors State University;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, This year marks the 25th anniversary of the
13 Third World Conference Foundation; and
14 WHEREAS, The 25th annual conference, held in Chicago on
15 March 17, will feature Dr. Amartya Kumar Sen, recipient of
16 the 1998 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, as the keynote
17 speaker; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we congratulate the Third World Conference Foundation on its
21 25th anniversary and wish them success in the future; and be
22 it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to Dr. Roger K. Oden, President of the Third World
25 Conference Foundation.
