1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Philippa Soskin, an esteemed resident of
3 Champaign and a senior at University of Illinois Laboratory
4 High School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary
5 volunteer service by receiving a 1999 Prudential Spirit of
6 Community Award; and
7 WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by The
8 Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with
9 the National Association of Secondary School Principals,
10 honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated
11 an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and
12 WHEREAS, Philippa Soskin earned this award by giving
13 generously of her time and energy; and
14 WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the
15 strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of
16 American society depend, in great measure, upon the
17 dedication of young people like Philippa Soskin who use their
18 considerable talents and resources to serve others;
19 therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we hereby congratulate and honor Philippa Soskin as a
23 recipient of a Prudential Spirit of Community Award,
24 recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer
25 leadership and community spirit, and extend our best wishes
26 for her continued success and happiness; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to Philippa Soskin.
