1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
3 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Wayne Guthrie is a highly respected and valuable
6 member of his community, who has retired from the Senior
7 Citizens Advisory Committee of Downers Grove Township after
8 years of dedicated service to the community; and
9 WHEREAS, He was a founding member of the Committee,
10 established on July 12, 1983; among his many accomplishments
11 on the Committee was the establishment of the Dial-A-Ride for
12 senior citizens and the Banner News newsletter for all senior
13 citizens in the township; he served as Chairman of the
14 Committee for two years; and
15 WHEREAS, Wayne Guthrie has received numerous awards,
16 including being honored in 1994 as one of ten people from the
17 State of Illinois to be inducted into the Senior Illinoisan
18 Hall of Fame; and
19 WHEREAS, Wayne Guthrie is a former teacher, counselor,
20 dean, and principal of School District 99; he was actively
21 involved in many organizations concerning people of all ages,
22 but in his later years he devoted most of his time to issues
23 concerning older persons; and
24 WHEREAS, He served as Chairman of the DuPage Senior
25 Citizens Council and a member of its Home Maintenance Task
26 Force; he was a member of the Senior Home Sharing, Inc.,
27 chaired the Housing and Grants Committee for the Illinois
28 Region II Area Agency on Aging, and was a member of the
29 DuPage County Affordable Housing Task Force; and
30 WHEREAS, Wayne Guthrie truly exemplifies a truly
31 honorable citizen; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we applaud Wayne Guthrie for his many years of dedicated and
4 significant service to his community and the people of
5 Illinois and we extend our best wishes to him for the future;
6 and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Wayne Guthrie as an expression of our esteem.
