 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Officer Mark Zvokel was presented  an  award  as
 3    the  Hickory Hills Police Officer of the Year on February 10,
 4    1999; and

 5        WHEREAS, This award  is  determined  by  a  vote  of  the
 6    Officer's peers; the Hickory Hills Lions Club hosted a dinner
 7    to  thank  and  honor  law  enforcement  personnel  who  have
 8    distinguished themselves in the eyes of their colleagues; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mark Zvokel was raised in the Village of Lyons;
10    in 1986, he began to pursue a career in law enforcement  when
11    he  became  a  Police  Cadet  with  the  Hickory Hills Police
12    Department; upon completing the Cadet Program, he  became  an
13    Auxiliary  Police  Officer and part-time dispatcher; in 1989,
14    he was sworn in as a full-time officer; he  was  assigned  to
15    patrol  duties;  he  joined  the  Investigation Division as a
16    Tactical  Gang  Crimes  Officer;  in  1997,  he   became   an
17    Investigator within that Division; and

18        WHEREAS,  During  his  career,  he  has  accumulated many
19    commendations for exceptional performance;  among  them  are:
20    uniform   and   undercover  narcotics  arrests;  gang  crimes
21    arrests; major  burglary  ring  arrests;  and  armed  robbery
22    investigations resulting in major arrests; and

23        WHEREAS,  Officer  Zvokel  is  to  be  applauded  for his
24    contributions to the safety and welfare of the  residents  of
25    Hickory Hills; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
27    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
28    we  congratulate  Officer  Mark Zvokel on being named Hickory
29    Hills Police Officer of the Year and extend to him  our  best
30    wishes for the future; and be it further

31        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
