 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The education of our children in  the  State  of
 3    Illinois is the single most important responsibility of State
 4    government and the people of this great State; and

 5        WHEREAS,  The  teachers and educational employees in this
 6    State are charged with the responsibility  of  educating  our
 7    children;  teachers  and  other  educational  employees  have
 8    always deserved and required advocacy on their behalf to help
 9    ensure  that  the  proper resources and tools are in place to
10    allow for the proper education of our children; and

11        WHEREAS,  The  late  Michael  W.  Hindman,  formerly   of
12    Effingham,  Illinois,  was a long time advocate for education
13    and for our children here in the State of Illinois; he served
14    for over 27 years as an official with the Illinois  Education
15    Association,  and before that was an educator in the State of
16    Illinois; he knew the importance of having qualified teachers
17    and adequate resources in the school; and

18        WHEREAS, On December 31, 1998,  Michael  W.  Hindman  was
19    tragically  killed  in  an  automobile  accident  while  on a
20    vacation; because of  his  love  of  and  dedication  to  the
21    shool-age  children  of  the State of Illinois and the public
22    education system, and his strong advocacy on behalf of  both,
23    Illinois  has  lost  a  friend  who  always  fought  to  make
24    education better; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
26    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
27    we  mourn,  with  great  sadness,  the  passing of Michael W.
28    Hindman; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented to the family and friends of Michael W. Hindman.
