1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
3 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Pat Gillespie has been named the 1999 Darien
6 Citizen of the Year; what distinguishes Mr. Gillespie is his
7 diversity of volunteerism and the modesty with which he goes
8 about his business of serving others; and
9 WHEREAS, He was an alderman of Darien for 8 years, from
10 1985 to 1993; he was a member of the Plan Commission for 2
11 years and was Chairman of the Planning and Development
12 Committee for 8 years; and
13 WHEREAS, He is an active member of Sertoma and was
14 awarded Sertoma Man of the Year; he is a past President and
15 has served on the Board of Directors for a number of years;
16 he currently serves as a member of the Center's Professional
17 Advisory Board; and
18 WHEREAS, He is a member of the Lion's Club, was Chairman
19 of the Pancake Day and the Big Raffle, and he and his wife,
20 Joan, have helped serve food in the PADS program at Our Lady
21 of Mount Carmel Church; and
22 WHEREAS, He has been active in the Foundation of the
23 Indian Prairie Library since 1994 and currently serves as its
24 President; and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Gillespie has also served in the financial
26 world as President and board member of the Chicago General
27 Agents and Managers Association; and
28 WHEREAS, Pat Gillespie has earned the respect of all who
29 have come to know him; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Pat Gillespie on being named 1999 Citizen of
3 the Year of the City of Darien and applaud his good works;
4 and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to him as an expression of our esteem.
