 1        AN ACT to amend the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois
 2    by changing Section 56.

 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section  5.  The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
 6    amended by changing Section 56 as follows:

 7        (20 ILCS 1405/56) (from Ch. 127, par. 56)
 8        Sec. 56.  The Department of Insurance shall have power:
 9        1.  To exercise the rights, powers and duties  vested  by
10    law   in  the  insurance  superintendent,  his  officers  and
11    employes;
12        2.  To exercise the rights, powers and duties which  have
13    been vested by law in the Department of Trade and Commerce as
14    the  successor  of the insurance superintendent, his officers
15    and employes;
16        3.  To exercise the rights, powers and duties  heretofore
17    vested  by law in the Department of Trade and Commerce, or in
18    the Director of Trade and Commerce, by:
19        (a)  All laws in relation to insurance;
20        (b)  Article 22 of the "Illinois Pension Code",  approved
21    March 18, 1963, as amended;
22        4.  To  execute  and  administer  all  laws heretofore or
23    hereafter enacted, relating to insurance;.
24        5.  To transfer jurisdiction  of  any  realty  under  the
25    control  of  the  Department  to  any other Department of the
26    State Government, or to acquire or accept Federal lands, when
27    such transfer, acquisition or acceptance is  advantageous  to
28    the State and is approved in writing by the Governor;.
29        6.  To   assess   the   availability   of  employer-based
30    long-term care insurance and promote long-term care insurance
31    as a health insurance option for employees.
