 1        AN  ACT  to  amend  the Township Code by changing Section
 2    110-10.

 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section  5.  The  Township  Code  is  amended by changing
 6    Section 110-10 as follows:

 7        (60 ILCS 1/110-10)
 8        Sec. 110-10.  Township board powers.
 9        (a)  For the purpose  of  promoting  the  public  health,
10    safety,  morals, comfort, and general welfare, conserving the
11    values of property throughout the township, and lessening  or
12    avoiding  the  hazards  to  persons  and  damage  to property
13    resulting from the accumulation or runoff of storm  or  flood
14    waters, the township board may do any of the following:
15             (1)  Regulate  and  restrict the location and use of
16        buildings, structures,  and  land  for  trade,  industry,
17        residence,  and  other  uses that may be specified by the
18        board.
19             (2)  Regulate and restrict the  intensity  of  those
20        uses.
21             (3)  Establish building or setback lines on or along
22        any  street,  trafficway,  drive,  parkway,  or  storm or
23        floodwater runoff channel or basin outside the area  that
24        is subject to a municipal zoning ordinance.
25             (4)  Divide  the  township  into  districts (i) of a
26        number, shape, and area and  (ii)  of  different  classes
27        according to the use of land and buildings, the intensity
28        of that use (including height of buildings and structures
29        and    surrounding    open    space),   and   any   other
30        classification, all as deemed best suited  to  carry  out
31        the purposes of this Article.

 1             (5)  Prohibit   uses,   buildings,   or   structures
 2        incompatible   with  the  character  of  those  districts
 3        respectively.
 4             (6)  Prevent  additions   to   and   alteration   or
 5        remodeling  of  existing buildings or structures in a way
 6        to  avoid  the  restrictions  and  limitations   lawfully
 7        imposed under this Article.
 8             (7)  Submit  written  objections to the county board
 9        concerning   a   proposed   county   zoning    ordinance,
10        resolution,  or variation as provided in Sections 5-12007
11        and 5-12009 of the Counties Code.
12        (b)  In all ordinances or resolutions passed  under  this
13    Article, due allowance shall be made for existing conditions,
14    the  conservation  of  property  values,  the  directions  of
15    building  development  to  the  best  advantage of the entire
16    county, and the uses to which property is devoted at the time
17    of the enactment of the ordinance or resolution.
