1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2148
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 2148 as follows:
3 by replacing the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT to amend the Illinois Promotion Act."; and
5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
6 following:
7 "Section 5. The Illinois Promotion Act is amended by
8 adding Section 8b as follows:
9 (20 ILCS 665/8b new)
10 Sec. 8b. Promotion and development projects. The
11 Department is authorized to make grants, subject to
12 appropriations by the General Assembly for this purpose from
13 the Tourism Promotion Fund, to counties, municipalities, or
14 local promotion groups for projects that provide for the
15 development of new tourist attractions, the enhancement of
16 existing tourist attractions, or the promotion of existing
17 tourist attractions to new markets. Eligible projects
18 include those that will have the ability to greatly improve
19 the economic impact of tourism within a region of the State,
20 that will serve to improve the work force within the regional

1 area, and that will serve as an anchor for addition
2 development of tourism products. Applications for the grants
3 shall be made on an annual basis and shall be reviewed by the
4 Tourism Coordinating Council of State Agencies.".
