 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2140

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2140  by  replacing
 3    the title with the following:
 4        "AN ACT to amend the Interior Design Profession Title Act
 5    by changing Section 15."; and

 6    by  replacing  everything  after the enacting clause with the
 7    following:

 8        "Section 5.  The Interior Design Profession Title Act  is
 9    amended by changing Section 15 as follows:

10        (225 ILCS 310/15) (from Ch. 111, par. 8215)
11        Sec. 15.  Disciplinary actions.
12        (a)  In  case  the  registrant,  after  receiving notice,
13    fails to file an answer, his or her registration may, in  the
14    discretion   of  the  Director,  having  first  received  the
15    recommendation of the Board, be suspended, revoked, placed on
16    probationary  status,  or  the  Director  may  take  whatever
17    disciplinary action he or she may deem proper, including  the
18    imposition  of  a fine, without a hearing, if the act or acts
19    charged constitute sufficient grounds for such  action  under
20    this Act.
21        (b)  The    Director    may   temporarily   suspend   the

 1    registration of a registrant without a hearing,  simultaneous
 2    to  the  institution  of proceedings for a hearing under this
 3    Act, if the Director  finds  that  evidence  in  his  or  her
 4    possession indicates that the person's continuation of use of
 5    the title would constitute an immediate danger to the public.
 6    In  the  event  that  the  Director  temporarily suspends the
 7    registration of a registrant without a hearing, a hearing  by
 8    the  Board  must be held within 15 days after such suspension
 9    has occurred and concluded without appreciable delay.
