1 AN ACT to amend the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois
2 by adding Section 55d.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by adding Section 55d as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 2605/55d new)
8 Sec. 55d. Citizens Crime Commission.
9 (a) There is established within the Department of State
10 Police a Citizens Crime Commission. The Commission shall
11 consist of 10 members. The membership of the Commission shall
12 be composed exclusively of victims of violent crime. The
13 members of the Commission shall be appointed by the
14 Governor. The Governor shall designate 2 members of the
15 Commission to serve as co-chairs of the Commission. All
16 appointments shall be made by January 1, 2000, for 2 year
17 terms.
18 (b) The Commission shall advise the General Assembly on
19 crime legislation.
20 (c) Members of the Commission may be reimbursed for all
21 necessary expenses incurred in connection with the
22 performance of their duties as members.
23 (d) This Section is repealed January 1, 2002.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
