Provides that upon elimination of the University of Illinois Fire Department, its firefighters may continue to participate in the State Universities Retirement System and earn firefighter service credit so long as they are continuously employed (i) in any capacity by the University of Illinois or (ii) as firefighters by the City of Champaign or the City of Urbana, in which case the city is obligated to make employer contributions to the System. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE, AMENDED Fiscal impact is minor.
