ELEC CD-CONTRIB-ST CONTRACTOR                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Election Code.  Provides that  a  person  who    makes      
   aggregate  contributions  greater than $1,000 for the primary election      
   or greater than $1,000 for  the  general  election  to  any  political      
   committee  for  a  candidate  for  the  office of Governor, Lieutenant      
   Governor,   Attorney   General,   Treasurer,   Secretary   of   State,      
   Comptroller, State Senator, or State Representative is prohibited from      
   entering into, renewing, or extending any contract with the  State  of      
   Illinois  for  2  years  after the date of the contribution.  Provides      
   that the  person's  existing  contracts,  entered  into,  renewed,  or      
   extended  after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1998, are      
   void and the contractor shall return all consideration  received  from      
   the  State regardless of the services, goods, or other things of value      
   provided under the contract, which shall be  retained  by  the  State.      
   Effective immediately.
