CRIM PRO-PROSECUTION-TECHNICAL                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963.  Makes a technical      
   change in Section describing the commencement of prosecution.               
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          725 ILCS 5/111-1                                                     
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          725 ILCS 5/115-4.1              from Ch. 38, par. 115-4.1            
        Deletes everything. Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of           
   1963. Permits the court to commence trial in the absence of the defen-      
   dant in misdemeanor cases (now the court may commence trial in the ab-      
   sence of the defendant only in non-capital felony cases).    Effective      
   immediately.
