Provides that the State Board of Education is to implement and administer a 3-year Giant Steps pilot program and make grants to participating school districts for the study and evaluation of autism and related teacher training. Effective July 1, 1997. FISCAL NOTE, REVISED (Ill. State Bd. of Ed.) A companion appropriation bill (HB1201) would provide $1.5 M for the Giant Steps pilot project. The student legal residency changes will have a positive fiscal effect for those school districts no longer having to provide certain tuitions free.
