PATIENT RIGHT-PROVIDER ID                                                  

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act to provide that a  licensed      
   health care facility shall require a person who observes, examines, or      
   treats a patient or resident of the facility to wear an identification      
   badge  disclosing  his  or her first name, licensure status, and staff      
   position. Provides that a violation of this  requirement  is  a  petty      
   offense with a fine of $500.

          No fiscal implications to the Dept. of Public Health.                
          STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE                                           
          In the opinion of DCCA, HB 864 creates a service mandate for         
          which reimbursement of 50% to 100% of the increased cost to          
          units of local government is required under the State Mandates       
          Act. No estimate of the statewide cost of the bill is currently      
          available.                                                           
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Further amends the  Medical  Patient  Rights  Act  to  apply  the      
   identification  badge  requirement  to  employees  or  volunteers of a      
   health care  facility  (now,  persons)  who  examine  or  treat  (now,      
   observe, examine, or treat) patients of the facility.
