BROSNAHAN-MCKEON, CROTTY, MCCARTHY AND DART.

(O'MALLEY-VIVERITO-GEO-KARIS-HAWKINSON-SEVERNS)

   730 ILCS 5/5-8-4          from Ch. 38, par. 1005-8-4                        

        Amends the Unified Code of Corrections.  Requires the  imposition      
   of  consecutive sentences on a defendant in certain cases for offenses      
   that were not committed as part of a single course of  conduct  during      
   which  there  was  no substantial change in the nature of the criminal      
   objective  and  eliminates  the  limitation  that  the  aggregate   of      
   consecutive  sentences  shall  not exceed the sum of the maximum terms      
   authorized for extended term sentences for the 2 most serious felonies      
   for offenses that were not committed as part of  a  single  course  of      
   conduct  during which there was no substantial change in the nature of      
   the criminal objective. Effective immediately.
