1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois Community College Board will set
3 aside May 6, 1998 as Recognition Day for community college
4 students nominated to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
5 All-Illinois Academic Team; and
6 WHEREAS, May 6, 1998 marks the first time such an
7 All-Illinois Academic Team has been formally constituted to
8 include those Illinois community college students named by
9 their college presidents as having achieved high academic
10 standards and noteworthy community involvement; and such
11 recognition of these students and the All-Illinois Academic
12 Team program promotes the excellent educational quality of
13 Illinois' community college system; and
14 WHEREAS, Such recognition will officially occur with a
15 ceremony in the Illinois State Capitol Rotunda on May 6,
16 1998; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
18 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Governor Edgar to sign
19 a proclamation declaring May 6, 1998 as "All-Illinois
20 Academic Team Recognition Day" in the State of Illinois; and
21 be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
23 to Governor Edgar.
