          Amends the Vehicle Code.  Makes stylistic  changes  in  a
      Section concerning the scope and effect of the Chapter of the
      Code concerning size, weight, and load permits.

 1        AN  ACT  to  amend  the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
 2    Section 15-101.
 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section  5.   The  Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is amended by
 6    changing Section 15-101 as follows:
 7        (625 ILCS 5/15-101) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 15-101)
 8        Sec. 15-101.  Scope and effect of Chapter 15.
 9        (a)  It is unlawful for any person to drive or  move  on,
10    upon, or across or for the owner to cause or knowingly permit
11    to  be  driven  or  moved on, upon, or across any highway any
12    vehicle or vehicles  of  a  size  and  weight  exceeding  the
13    limitations  stated in this Chapter or otherwise in violation
14    of this Chapter., and The maximum size and weight of vehicles
15    herein specified in this Chapter shall be  lawful  throughout
16    this  State.,  and  Local  authorities shall have no power or
17    authority to alter those such limitations except  as  express
18    authority may be granted in this Chapter.
19        (b)  The  provisions  of  this  Chapter  governing  size,
20    weight,  and  load  do  not  apply  to  (i) fire apparatus or
21    equipment for  snow  and  ice  removal  operations  owned  or
22    operated  by  any governmental body, (ii) or to implements of
23    husbandry temporarily operated or towed in a combination upon
24    a highway,  provided  that  the  such  combination  does  not
25    consist  of  more  than 3 vehicles or, in the case of hauling
26    fresh, perishable fruits or vegetables from farm to the point
27    of first processing, not more than 3 wagons being towed by an
28    implement of husbandry, or (iii) to a vehicle operated  under
29    the  terms  of  a  special  permit  issued under this Chapter
30    hereunder.
