1 AN ACT making appropriations.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The following named sums, or so much thereof
5 as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and
6 purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated from the General
7 Revenue Fund to the Board of Trustees of the University of
8 Illinois to meet the ordinary and contingent expenses of the
9 University of Illinois, including payment to the University
10 for personal services and related costs incurred during the
11 fiscal year:
12 For Personal Services........................... $563,648,200
13 (Included in the above amount is the sum of $32,451 for
14 the payment of interest on the endowment funds of the
15 University as provided in Section 2 of "An Act to make
16 appropriations for the University of Illinois and providing
17 for the management of funds of said University, and for the
18 protecting interests of the State in connection therewith",
19 approved June 11, 1897, as amended. Also included in the
20 above amount is a sum for salaries accrued but unpaid to
21 academic personnel for personal services rendered during the
22 academic year 1997-98.)

1 Section 20. The sum of $994,100, or so much thereof as
2 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Fire Prevention
3 Fund to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
4 for the purpose of maintaining the Illinois Fire Service
5 Institute, paying the expenses and providing the facilities
6 and structures incident thereto, including payment to the
7 University for personal services and related costs incurred
8 during the fiscal year.
9 Section 25. The sum of $290,000, or so much thereof as
10 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Real Estate
11 Research and Education Fund to the Board of Trustees of the
12 University of Illinois for the ordinary and contingent
13 expenses, including scholarships and payment to the
14 University for personal services and related costs incurred
15 during the fiscal year, of the Office of Real Estate
16 Research.
17 Section 30. The sum of $4,000,000 or so much thereof as
18 may be necessary, and remains unexpended on June 30, 1998,
19 from an appropriation heretofore made for such purpose in
20 Article 7, Section 60 of Public Act 88-0551, is
21 reappropriated from the Capital Development Fund to the Board
22 of Trustees of the University of Illinois to acquire and
23 develop land for expansion of the Chicago campus, including
24 demolition, landscaping and site improvements, planning,
25 construction, remodeling, extension and modification of
26 campus utility systems, and such other expenses as may be
27 necessary to construct a public safety and transportation
28 facility and to develop student recreational areas.
29 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July
30 1, 1998.
