 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1610
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 1610, AS  AMENDED,
 3    in  the  title  and  the introductory clause of Section 1, by
 4    replacing  "2-3.64"  each  time  it  appears  with   "2-3.64,
 5    2-3.64a," and
 6        by  inserting  after  the  last  line  of Sec. 2-3.64 the
 7    following:
 8        "(105 ILCS 5/2-3.64a)
 9        Sec.  2-3.64a.   IGAP  Review   Committee.    The   State
10    Superintendent  shall  appoint a committee of no more than 20
11    balanced   membership   consisting   of    parents,    school
12    administrators, teachers, parents, school administrators, and
13    concerned   citizens   to   review  the  Illinois  Goals  and
14    Assessment Program (IGAP) tests  administered  by  the  State
15    Board  of  Education.  The  Committee shall select one of the
16    parent representatives as its chairman. The  Committee  shall
17    meet  on an ongoing basis to review the content and design of
18    the tests (including whether the requirements  of  subsection
19    a-5  of  Section  2-3.64  have  been met), the time and money
20    expended at the local and state levels  to  prepare  for  and
21    administer  the tests, the collective results of the tests as
22    measured against the  stated  purpose  of  testing  assessing

 1    student  performance,  and  other  issues involving the tests
 2    identified  by  the  Committee.   The  Committee  shall  make
 3    periodic such recommendations to the State Superintendent and
 4    the  General  Assembly  concerning  the  tests  as  it  deems
 5    appropriate.
